Dr. Pallabi Chakraborty is an Assistant Professor in the Economics area at the Indian Institute of Management Amritsar. She holds a PhD in Economics from the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences, Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati. Prior to joining IIM Amritsar, she served as an Assistant Professor at the School of Public Policy and Governance, Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS), Hyderabad.

Her research interests lie in development economics, political economy, applied micro-econometrics, and game theory. In her doctoral thesis, she analysed credit markets in India, highlighting how social networks and asset holdings influence access to formal and informal finance. She is the recipient of the Institute Best PhD Thesis Award (2023) and the UGC Junior Research Fellowship in 2016 and 2017. She has also received several grants to present papers at international conferences.

She has published her research in reputed journals including Empirical Economics, Economic Systems, and Indian Growth and Development Review. She is passionate about exploring new areas in development economics and has previously taught courses in Statistical Methods, Econometrics, and Impact Evaluation.
