Yukti HR Conclave 2017

You don't build a business. You build your PEOPLE and then, the people build your BUSINESS"

The Indian Institute of Management Amritsar concluded the second edition of its annual HR Conclave, 'Yukti' on 19th August 2017 with flying colors. Yukti, ever since its inception, was conceptualized and implemented in the presence of the very first batch of IIM Amritsar, with a motive to provide a platform for the exchange of intellectually stimulating ideas among the industry, academia and the students of IIM Amritsar under the purview of Human resources domain. With the amalgamation of brilliance and experience, the attendees could brainstorm and come up with novel solutions to tackle with the current problems prevalent in the realistic HR scenarios.

The topic for discussion for the Yukti'17 was 'Redefining Workplaces', under which two subtopics, one for each Panel, viz. 'Avenues of Engagement' and 'Integrating Diversity' at workplace were pondered upon in detail.

The stellar dignitaries put up their personal perspectives about the subtle differences between the terms 'Professional Relationships' and 'Everlasting Bonds' with the employer and also between 'Participation' and 'Engagement' of the employees. Each panel illuminated the audience about the ways the concept of engagement has evolved, the challenges with the scaling up and down of these engagements at different levels in different industries' the success stories of some companies and the ways they themselves embraced the concept of employee engagement in their respective organizations. The highly experienced stalwarts thereafter came to an agreement that there is definitely a positive correlation between diversity, engagement and good company fortunes.

In their address to the students, the panel then spoke about the costs regarding enhancing diversity of an organization and the holistic benefits a firm enjoys by incorporating diversity as well as equality. Also, the industry luminaries informed the students regarding different ways to promote diversity with the help of innovative approaches like aiming at social collaborations, team-based activities and decentralized peer to peer learning. The intriguing discussion followed by the Q&A session led to a zestful completion of 'Yukti'17', with IIM Amritsar fraternity pledging to organize more such quality events in the years to come.
