Her current research explores Artificial Intelligence, Business perspectives of Recommender systems, and the application of Machine Learning for enhanced recommendations. She has been recently researching in the domain of Artificial Intelligence Policy and completed a four-month certificate course in the area.

Dr. Sharma finds solace in reading and painting outside academia, particularly with gouache paints. For her, being absorbed in nature is calming and rejuvenating, offering tranquillity and creative energy.
