Surender Rao Komera is a faculty member in the area of Finance, Accounting and Control at Indian Institute of Management Amritsar. The broad area of his research is Empirical Corporate Finance. His doctoral thesis was titled ‘Essays on Capital Structure Choice and Corporate Bankruptcy’. His research work has appeared in reputed peer reviewed journals such as Business & Politics, Asia Pacific Journal of Management, Quarterly Review of Economics and Finance, Journal of Economics and Finance, IIM Management Review, Review of Pacific Basin Financial Markets and Policies, and International Journal of Emerging Markets. Dr. Surender has also presented his research work at various national and international conferences such as annual meetings of Academy of Management, Money and Finance Conferences (conducted by IGIDR, Mumbai), India Finance Conference, World Finance Association, Midwest Finance Association, Forum for Global Knowledge Sharing and so on. He has received the best paper award (Advanced Finance track) at IIM Ahmedabad Doctorial Colloquium – 2013.
Prior to joining IIM Amritsar in May 2019, he worked as a faculty member at Institute for Financial Management and Research (IFMR). He has experience of designing and conducting customized training programs for corporate participants (including very senior managers) working for Barclays Global Service Center Pvt Ltd, L&T Construction, Murugappa Group, GMMO Ltd, Sundram Fasteners Ltd, TAFE Ltd, Toshiba Machine Pvt Ltd, etc,. Dr. Surender also has experience of offering customized training sessions (modules of Financial Management and Financial Economics) for RBI new recruits (Grade – B officers) at Reserve Bank Staff College, Chennai.
For his continued teaching excellence, Dr. Surender has received 'Professor of the Year' award at IIM Amritsar (by InsideIIM.com) for the years 2020 and 2021.
