Chetan is an Assistant Professor at IIM Amritsar. He has a PhD in Economics from IIM Bangalore. Prior to that Chetan has spent about a decade in the financial sector working in the areas of financial appraisal of industrial projects and strategic consultancy in the MSME sector. He has also taught courses in Microeconomics, Macroeconomics, and Development Economics at various institutions.
His primary area of interest is the use of ICT for development. His PhD research looked at the impact of technology on learning outcomes in rural government schools. His research interest includes various aspects of development such as education, agriculture and livelihoods. In his research, he explores the interaction between technology and society. His other interests include economic history, methodological underpinnings of economics, political economy and postcolonial studies.
