Managing The Unexpected: Building Resilient Supply Chains Amidst Disruptions & Complexities

Supply chains are thriving in an increasingly complex and interdependent world. The pressure of meeting customer expectations is forcing more and more supply chains to go global. This interdependence has made supply chains highly susceptible to disruptions such as natural disasters, geopolitical instability, cyber-attacks, cargo failures and price hikes. The factors both internal and external to the organization are driving supply chain complexities. The colossal increase in complexities of supply chain tends to impact the overall performance of an organization. It is important for the organizations to be proactive in planning for the any unforeseen event which can cause disruptions. Hence, the organizations have to consider these complexities while designing their supply chains to respond to these unexpected events in a timely manner and reduce or absorb the effect of any disruptions that may occur. The panel discussion will be focused on the need of building resilient supply chains in present times. The discussion would also be looking at various types of supply chain complexities which may arise due to internal or external forces and finally the discussion would explore the factors/strategies to reduce the impact of unexpected disruptions and create a resilient supply chain.

Dynamically Sustainable Approach In Creating Competitive Advantage

Sustainable development is clearly defined as development that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their needs. The present competitive conditions vary considerably due to externalities which are characterized by rapid technological changes, the common turbulent business environment that exists these days, and increased globalization. To tackle such fluctuating market circumstances, flexible strategic solutions with minimal response time are required. Certain dilemmas are bound to occur during strategy preparation and the measurement of its effectiveness owing to its complexity and the arbitrary nature of the targets. Due to their dependence on necessary business resources and their inertia, firms often do not proactively respond to the changes in external business environment. In fact, they are known to resist the changes in order to survive in the market. It would be interesting to explore how firms can have dynamic sustainable approach to create competitive advantage given such scenarios. The Strategy panel will discuss on how to create an adaptable sustainable solution that would provide a competitive edge in an ever-changing market. The panel discussion will be focused on scope of dynamic sustainable growth models to achieve competitive advantage and the panelists sharing their relevant experiences. The panel will scrutinize the issue and analyze it from various perspectives to understand the viability of sustainable approach in the current market.
